President Jacob Zuma arrives in the Democratic Republic of Congo ahead of SADC Heads of State Summit

Kinshasa - President Jacob Zuma arrived in the Democratic Republic of Congo today (6 September 2009) ahead of the 26th Ordinary SADC Heads of State Summit, being held in Kinshasa. President Zuma is expected to deliver a progress report as South Africa hands over the chair to President Joseph Kabila of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

President Zuma will deliver his statement as outgoing chairperson summarizing the progress made on the SADC agenda under South Africa’s chairpersonship.

Ahead of President Zuma’s arrival, Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane participated in the Council of Ministers which prepares the issues for the Summit agenda.
