Deputy Minister Sue van der Merwe to commemorate UN Day

International Relations and Cooperation Deputy Minister Sue van Der Merwe will on Monday, 26 October 2009 host a reception to commemorate UN Day.

The anniversary of the entry into force of the United Nations Charter on 24 October 1945 has been celebrated as UN Day since 1948. This is to make known the aims and achievements of the United Nations Organization. UN Day is an opportunity for nations to reaffirm their faith in the principles and the purpose of the United Nations Charter and celebrate the goals and achievements of the Organization.
