Mr KS Mubu (DA) to ask the Minister of International Relations and Cooperation:

Whether her Deputy Ministers or her department purchased new vehicles on the Deputy Ministers’ appointment to office; if so, (a) why, (b) what make and model are the vehicles, (c) what did the vehicles cost and (d) (i) what accessories were included in excess of the vehicles’ purchase price and (ii) what was the cost of such accessories; if not,

Whether they inherited existing vehicles; if so, (a) what was the make and model and (b) how old are the vehicles

  1. A vehicle on a full maintenance lease was purchased for Deputy Minister Ebrahim.  Deputy Minister van der Merwe is still utilising the official vehicles purchased in 2006.
  2. The vehicle used by the former Deputy Minister Aziz Pahad had 120 000 kilometres on the odometer and was due for replacement.
