President Jacob Zuma to receive Botswana President Seretse Khama on a Two Day State Visit to South Africa

The President of the Republic of South Africa, His Excellency Jacob Gedleyihlekisa Zuma will host His Excellency Lieutenant General Seretse Khama Ian Khama; the President of the Republic of Botswana who undertakes a two days state visit to South Africa scheduled to take place from 05 - 06 October 2010.

President Zuma will host the Botswana President within the context of consolidating the African Agenda which will see the two countries enhancing and deepening their bilateral relations and mutual co-operation.

The two Presidents will give consideration to future areas of shared cooperation, especially in the areas of energy, water supply, trade, economic diversification and infrastructural development.

Views will also be exchanged on integrated, pragmatic and mutually beneficial strategies for cooperation at regional level especially within SACU and SADC. The two leaders will further have discussions on broad issues affecting the continent within the context of the AU and strengthen and enhance cooperation in dealing with multilateral issues such as reform of multilateral institutions such as the UN Security Council, G8, and G20 etc.

It is anticipated that His Excellency, President Khama will be accompanied by several Ministers and a business delegation that would participate in a Business Forum to explore investment and trade opportunities between the two countries.

President Zuma will be supported by Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Ms Maite Nkoana-Mashabane; Minister of Water and Environmental Affairs Ms Buyelwa Sonjica; Minister of Public Enterprises Ms Barbara Hogan; Minister of Trade and Industry Mr Rob Davies; Minister of Energy Ms Dipuo Peters; Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Ms Tina Joemat-Pettersson; Minister of Transport Mr Sibusiso Ndebele; and Mineral Resources Ms Susan Shabangu.
