President of the Republic of South Africa, HE Mr Jacob G. Zuma, congratulates HE Ms Dilma Rousseff on her election as the President of Federal Republic of Brazil.

The President of the Republic, HE Mr Jacob G. Zuma, has on behalf of the Government and the people of South Africa, congratulated HE Ms Dilma Rousseff on the occasion of her election as the first woman President of the Federal Republic of Brazil.

South Africa and Brazil enjoy cordial bilateral, economic and diplomatic relations and also cooperate on international forums such as IBSA and the United Nations.

“The election of President Dilma Rousseff to the highest office in Brazil will further strengthen and consolidate our resolve as two nations and members of the developing world our continued efforts of  transforming the Global Governance and Monetary/Financial Institutions.

“We, as Government and the People of South Africa, wish President Rousseff success in her new role as the leader of the Brazilian people,” President Zuma concluded.
