South African International Relations and Co-operation Minister Maite Nkoana – Mashabane to pay a courtesy call on Ghana’s President John Atta Mills

South African International Relations Minister Maite Nkoana Mashabane will today, Wednesday, 10 March 2010 pay a courtesy call on Ghana’s President, Prof. John Atta Mills. Minister Nkoana - Mashabane arrived in Accra;Ghana last night ahead of the Ghana/ South Africa Permanent Joint Cooperation scheduled from the  10– 11 March 2010.

Minister Nkoana -  Mashabane was received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration of the Republic of Ghana Alhaji Muhammad Mumuni, Her Excellency, Ms. Zodwa Lallie, South Africa’s Representative to the Republic of Ghana, Deputy Director – General, Mr. Mxolisi Nkosi as well as her Special Advisor, Dr. Eddy Maloka.

The courtesy call on President Atta Mills will be followed by a  visit to the Kwame Nkrumah Museum as well as the W. E. B du Bois Centre.

Minister Maite Nkoana -  Mashabane will then have bilateral discussions with Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Minister Alhaji Muhammad Mumuni aimed at strengthening political, economic and trade ties between the two countries.

On Thursday, 11 March 2010, Minister Maite Nkoana Mashabane will co – host the Joint Co-operation Commission  as well as sign the following Agreements:

  • Memorandum of Understanding on Co-operation in the Field of Foreign Relations  as well as the
  • Memorandum of Understanding on Co-operation in the Field of Arts and Culture between the two countries.

The visit by the Minister to Ghana reaffirms South Africa’s commitment to work together with Ghana for the political unity and integration of the African ontinent within the framework of the African Union and through our support for NEPAD.

Minister Nkoana – Mashabane will also address a Lecture on “ Pan – Africanism , Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow” jointly hosted by the South African High Commission and the Legon Centre for InternationaL  Affairs at the College of Physicians and Surgeons.
