President Jacob Zuma concludes his visit to Botswana for SADC Summit

President Jacob G. Zuma concluded his visit to Botswana last night after leading a Government delegation to the SADC Heads of State and Government Summit held in Gaborone from Friday to Saturday, 19-20 November 2010.

South Africa’s participation in the SADC Heads of State came within the context of the country’s commitment to consolidate the African Agenda through its commitment to strengthening and consolidating SADC as a sub-regional economic bloc and a vehicle for the attainment of sustainable regional political and economic integration and development.

During the Summit, the SADC Headquarters in Gaborone were officially inaugurated by the Heads of State and Government as decided upon by the SADC Summit held in Namibia earlier in 2010.

The Summit also agreed on the developmental agenda of the continent as well as looking at strengthening the various SADC efforts that seek to entrench the consolidation of democracy within the region.

President Zuma was supported by the Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Ms Maite Nkoana-Mashabane, and other Senior Government officials.
