The South African Government condemns suicide bombings in Turkey

The President of the Republic of South Africa, HE Mr Jacob G. Zuma, has today, Monday, 1 November 2010, expressed South Africa’s government’s deepest concern at the terror bombings which took place at Taksim Square in the centre of Istanbul on Sunday that injured 32 people. The attack occurred as Istanbul was preparing to hold Republic Day parades to mark the 1923 founding of Turkey.

The government of the Republic of South Africa condemns in the strongest forms the terrorist attacks on innocent citizens of Turkey.
 
In this regard, President Zuma reiterated that “violence and any other form of terrorist attacks will not advance world peace and stability in any country.

“As the Government and the people of South Africa we reach out in thoughts and prayers to the Government and peoples of Turkey and wishing those wounded a speedy recovery,” concluded President Zuma.
