President Jacob Zuma to undertake Working Visit to Zimbabwe

President Jacob Zuma will travel to Harare, Zimbabwe on 16-18 March 2010 to meet with political parties that are signatories of the Global Political Agreement.

President Zuma’s visit to Zimbabwe comes within the context of SADC’s commitment to assisting the Inclusive Government to implement the Global Political Agreement.

South Africa was appointed by the Southern African Development Community to facilitate the removal of obstacles which hinder the full implementation of the agreement.

The President’s facilitation team on Zimbabwe, headed by Political adviser Mr Charles Nqakula, has been interacting with the parties in Zimbabwe since December 2009.

President Zuma is visiting the country to conduct an assessment of progress with regards to the implementation and to see how SADC can assist to fast-track the processes.
