Statement on General Bheki Cele Canada posting speculations
The Department of International Relations and Cooperation has noted persistent speculative media reports linking the National Commissioner of the South African Police Service, General Bheki Cele, to a diplomatic posting to Canada.
The Department wishes to put on the record that there has been no decision, or even discussion whatsover with General Cele or anyone at any level regarding a diplomatic posting for General Cele.
All diplomats are put through a training programme before they are sent abroad to represent the Government and people of South Africa. General Cele has not gone through this training and there is no plan for him to do so.
