President Zuma arrives in France for the G20 Summit.

President Jacob Zuma has today, 02 November 2011, arrived in Cannes, France, to attend the G20 Summit taking place on 3-4 November.

Issues that the President will discuss during this meeting include:

• The need for enhanced growth, jobs and infrastructure development in  Africa
• Global economic situation, reform of the International Monetary Fund
• Strengthening the financial sector
• Volatility of commodities' markets and their impact on food prices
• Progress on the development action plan adopted during the last G20 Summit in Seoul.
• Promotion of  South Africa's and Africa's potential as important contributors to global demand, opportunity for investing in infrastructure, manufacturing and innovation as well as calling for urgent measures that address food security and increased prices for food.

The President will also meet with business in a session organised by the French Chamber of Commerce, MEDEF.

President Zuma is accompanied by the Minister of Finance, Mr Pravin Gordhan.
South Africa regards the G20 as presenting a meaningful opportunity for a coordinated response to the global economic crisis, addressing the ongoing European debt crisis and adopting policies that will lead to strong, sustainable and balanced growth.
