The Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Mr Ebrahim Ebrahim, has concluded his visit to Oman where he participated in the inaugural meeting of the South Africa-Oman Partnership Forum.
The Partnership Forum between the two countries was convened in accordance with the Agreement on the Establishment of a Partnership Forum signed in October 2010.
As well as participating in the Partnership Forum, Deputy Minister Ebrahim met and exchanged views with Mr. Yousuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah, the Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs of Oman.
After the deliberations, Deputy Minister Ebrahim said: "The meeting with Mr Yousuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah was an important one as he was part of the Arab League delegation mandated to speed-up the process of dialogue in Syria with a view to find a speedy political solution in Syria”.
The two also interacted on the political developments in Libya since the recognition of the National Transitional Council (NTC) urged the Libyans to embark on reconciliation and nation building.
The two further deliberated on how to explore ways in which the two countries can collaborate to promote peaceful conflict resolution and post-conflict reconstruction and development on the African continent.
The Partnership Forum expressed support for Palestine’s bid to become a member of the United Nations.
