Message of Condolence to the Kingdom of Thailand following severe flooding that has ravaged the country

On behalf of the Government and the people of the Republic of South Africa, President Jacob Zuma has expressed his deepest condolences to the Government and the people of the Kingdom of Thailand following the tragic loss of life, the displacement of hundreds of thousands of people and the large-scale destruction of property and livelihood in the wake of the heavy monsoon rains, floods and mudslides that have severely affected 28 of the Kingdom’s 77 provinces since late July 2011 and are now threatening the capital Bangkok.  

President Zuma said: “At this moment of pain and suffering, in particular in the case of those who have lost loved ones, please be assured that the Government and people of South Africa share in your sorrow. We know that the resilience of the Thai people, which has seen them through very difficult times in the past, will help them to also overcome this loss.”
