Deputy Minister Fransman leaves New York for Washington on his second leg of the working visit to the United States of America, 11-18 June 2011

International Relations and Cooperation Deputy Minister, Mr Marius Fransman, has completed his visit in New York and will now proceed to Washington on the second leg of the working visit in the United States of America scheduled for 11-18 June 2011.

During the first leg of the working visit, Deputy Minister Fransman met with a number of important role players in the United Nations to discuss issues of the Urban renewal programmes and also the status of the proposed strategic partnership between the UNDP and South Africa. He participated on the panel of discussion on “promoting durable peace and sustainable development in Sudan and South Sudan. 

Also in New York, Deputy Minister paid a courtesy call on the Slovenian Foreign Minister Samuel Zbogar.

In Washington, Deputy Minister Fransman is expected to address a seminar at the CSIS/Woodrow Wilson Centre for International Scholars in Washington on a number of issues, which amongst others include:

  • Economic Diplomacy, Investment in Africa, BRICS, Regional Integration,
  • Development Focus in Africa, with focus on the South African Development Partnership Agency (SADPA)
  • Transformation of International Institutions; and
  • The US/SA bilateral and economic relations.
