Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe to host Vice-President of Vietnam, Nguyen Thi Doan, from 2 – 4 May 2011

Deputy President of the Republic of South Africa, Kgalema Motlanthe will host the Vice- President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Nguyen Thi Doan who will be on an Official Visit to South Africa from 2-4 May 2011.

This is reciprocal visit following Deputy President Motlanthe’s visit to Vietnam in October 2010.

During that visit both governments committed to strengthen cooperation on trade, defence and environmental management. The two governments further committed to actively encourage both South African and Vietnamese companies to take full advantage of excellent historical and political relations between the two countries to engage in trade and investment ventures.

The two countries are now cooperating in the fields of Tourism as well as Water Resources.
On Wednesday, 4 May 2011, Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe and the Vice President Nguyen will hold official talks at the Union Buildings.

Vice-President Nguyen will also visit places of historical importance, including Freedom Park and the Hector Peterson Memorial in Soweto, where she will lay a wreath.
