Reply:
The South African government affirmed its support to a United Nations Security Council Resolution 1970 and 1973 of 2011 on the Libyan Arab Jamahiriya, which included sanctions and an arms embargo. The resolution enforces a travel ban and assets freeze on Gaddafi, his inner circle and members of his family.
The competent South African authorities under the leadership of National Treasury are taking appropriate measures in compiling a list of items registered in the name of all individuals listed in the United Nations Security Council resolution number 1970 on the Libyan Arab Jamahiriya. This will be done in compliance with the articled of the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1970 and 1973 of 16 March 2011, resulting in all those who have been listed in the said resolutions not having access to any funds or assets in the country.
