Deputy Minister Ebrahim arrives in Kazakhstan on an official visit

The Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Mr Ebrahim Ebrahim, has today, 02 May 2012, arrived in Astana, Kazakhstan, to co-chair the second round of political consultations with his counterpart in Kazakhstan, Mr Kairat Sarybay.  

The working visit takes place within the context of promoting bilateral and multilateral relations with the government of Kazakhstan and also to encourage close economic and investment cooperation.
Deputy Minister Ebrahim is supported by senior government officials from the Departments of International Relations and Cooperation as well as Trade and Industry.
During the visit, the two Deputy Ministers are scheduled to discuss the following

  • Bilateral political and economic issues;
  • Multilateral cooperation in the framework of international organisations including the UN, IAEA and urgent international issues of mutual interest; and
  • The expected official visit by Kazakhstan to the Republic of South Africa later in the year.

It is expected that Deputy Minister Ebrahim will pay a courtesy call to the Minister of Foreign Affairs; Mr Erzhan Kazykhanov, and meet with other senior government officials and a business delegation.
