South Africa to host SADC’s 14th Ministerial Committee of the Organ on Politics, Defence and Security

South Africa, which is the current Chair of the SADC Organ on Politics, Defence and Security Cooperation, will host the 14th Meeting of the Ministerial Committee of the Organ (MCO) on Politics, Defence and Security Cooperation. The meeting is scheduled for 30-31 July 2012 in Pretoria.

Amongst the issues to be discussed at the meeting are regional political and economic issues as well as the Madagascar mediation efforts. Also on the agenda will be South Africa’s hand-over report to the United Republic of Tanzania, the incoming Chair of the Organ. Tanzania is due to assume its chairperson of the Organ at August 2012 SADC Summit.
