Minister Nkoana-Mashabane to co-chair the 3rd Session of the SA-Angola Joint Commission for Cooperation (JCC)

International Relations and Cooperation Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane will host her Angolan counterpart, Mr Georges Chikoti, Minister of External Relations, on 18 October 2013 for the 3rd Session of the South Africa-Angola Joint Commission for Cooperation (JCC).

The JCC Agreement between South Africa and Angola was signed in 2000. The Agreement seeks to promote political, economic and social cooperation between the two countries.

South Africa and Angola share solid historical and political ties and enjoy strong economic cooperation. The two countries cooperate in a wide range of areas including mining, housing, telecommunications, trade and industry amongst.

Trade cooperation between the two fellow SADC member states is high to the extent that Angola is one of South Africa’s top trading partners on the African Continent. South African exports to Angola amounted to approximately R6.4 billion in 2011 and R8.7 billion in 2012, while South African imports amounted to approximately R11.3 billion in 2011 and R23 billion in 2012, respectively.
