Application for Accreditation: 2nd BRICS Urbanisation Forum & 3rd Friendship Cities and Local Government Cooperation Forum
Members of the media are invited to apply for accreditation to the 2nd BRICS Urbanisation Forum and 3rd Friendship Cities and Local Government Cooperation Forum to be held 26-29 November 2013, Inkosi Albert Luthuli Convention Centre (ICC), Durban, South Africa. The meetings will be held under the theme “Towards sustainable urbanisation”.
The purpose of the meetings is to provide a platform for member countries to develop a common approach that will facilitate cooperation and exchange of information on urbanisation challenges.
The objectives of the conference are to coordinate efforts to learn from best practices and access available technologies in order to better manage and plan for the rapid rate of urbanisation in the BRICS partner countries.
The event will provide a platform for networking and exchanging of ideas. It also brings together senior government leaders and officials, city Managers, urban development managers, and other important stakeholders from around the world.
The agenda of the meetings is intended to ensure that key issues of urbanisation are placed on the global agenda of the BRICS member countries. The thematic issues will focus on Building productive and sustainable urban economies; Livelihood survival strategies in urban environments; Creating inclusive urban spaces; Decentralisation of powers and functions as well as Spatial and economic interface.
