President Zuma sends condolences to the Republic of Cyprus
The President of the Republic of South Africa, H.E President Jacob Zuma, conveyed a message of condolences upon the passing on of the former President of Cyprus, Mr Glafcos Clerides.
The life of Glafcos Clerides is linked to the struggles of Cypriot Hellenism who constitutes an emblematic figure, a noble politician for the Republic of Cyprus.
President Zuma said that: “It is with great sadness that I heard of the passing away of Glafcos Clerides. He will be remembered as a true European statesman who served his country with distinction from many positions and held the office of President of the Republic of Cyprus for two consecutive terms between 1993 and 2003.”
“On behalf of the people of the Republic of South Africa, allow me to express my sincere condolences to his family and the Cypriot people for their loss,” said President Zuma.
