Minister Nkoana-Mashabane to co-chair SA-Niger Joint Commission of Cooperation

At the invitation of the Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of the Republic of South Africa, Ms Maite Nkoana-Mashabane, the Honorable Mr Mohamed Bazoum, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, African Integration and Nigeriens Living Abroad of the Republic of Niger, accompanied by a delegation of Senior Officials, will pay a Working Visit to South Africa from 21 to 23 October 2013.

The purpose of the visit is to jointly chair with Minister Nkoana-Mashabane the Inaugural session of the Joint Commission of Cooperation (JCC) between South Africa and Niger on 23 October 2013. The Ministerial JCC is aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and further cooperation in the fields of inter alia mining and energy. The Ministers will also utilise the JCC to discuss multilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.

The JCC will be preceded by a Senior Officials Meeting (SOM) on 21 and 22 October 2013 during which the status of bilateral cooperation between the two countries will be evaluated and discussed and a report prepared for consideration and adoption by the Ministers. 

During their official talks, the two Ministers will review a wide range of bilateral, regional and international issues of mutual interest.
