President Zuma sends condolences following the demise of Dr Nkomo

On behalf of the Government and the people of South Africa, His Excellency President Jacob Zuma has extended his deepest condolences to the Nkomo family as well as the Government and the people of Zimbabwe on the passing on of Dr John Landa Nkomo on Thursday, 17 January 2013.

Dr Nkomo served in various capacities in the Government of Zimbabwe, including as a Member of Parliament, Deputy Minister and Minister. At the time of his death, Dr Nkomo was the Vice President of the Republic of Zimbabwe.

The esteemed Dr Nkomo will also be remembered for the important role he played in shaping the course of Zimbabwe’s history.

“Our thoughts go out to the entire Nkomo family and the people of Zimbabwe”, said President Zuma.
