MR C J DE BEER (ANC-NC) TO ASK THE MINISTER OF INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS AND COOPERATION:

Whether her department has (a) addressed the concerns raised by the Auditor-General (AG) in his audit report and (b) implemented appropriate measures to ensure that the problems which were highlighted by the AG do not recur; if not, (i) why not and (ii) what are her department’s plans in this regard; if so, what are the relevant details?

REPLY

(a) Yes, the concerns raised by Auditor-General are in the process of being addressed by the Department.

(b) The Department has appointed a Task Team to develop and monitor the implementation of the Audit Action Plan to address areas such as:

i. Predetermine objectives;
ii. Errors in the financial statements
iii. Assets management
iv. Compliance with Supply Chain Management policies.

A progress report on the Audit Action Plan is tabled on a quarterly basis to the Audit and Fraud Steering Committee; the Audit Committee; National Treasury; and to the Auditor General in a form of a dashboard report.
