President Zuma welcomes signing of peace agreement in Mozambique

The President of the Republic of South Africa, His Excellency Mr Jacob Zuma, has welcomed the signing of the peace agreement between the President of the Republic of Mozambique, His Excellency Mr Armando Guebuza, and the leader of RENAMO, Mr Afonso Dhlakama, on 05 September 2014.

President Zuma commended President Guebuza and the RENAMO leader for their commitment to the principles of democracy by signing the agreement, thereby setting aside political differences and ensuring full participation by Mozambicans in the 15 October 2014 presidential, parliamentary and regional assembly elections. To this end, President Zuma said the South African Government wished for continued peace, stability and prosperity for the people of Mozambique.
