MR MGP LEKOTA (COPE) TO ASK THE MINISTER OF INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS AND COOPERATION:

  1. Whether any progress has been made on the Grand Inga Hydro-Power Project subsequent to the signing of the memorandum of understanding between the Government and the government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo; if not, why not; if so, what are the relevant details;

  2. whether this project was to receive precedence over all other projected energy-related plans of the Government considering that it could supply clean electricity to our country on a sustainable and reliable basis; if not, why not; if so, what are the relevant details;

  3. whether any time table is available to indicate the various phases of developing and commissioning of this project; if not, why not; if so, what are the relevant details;

  4. whether the Government has undertaken to fund any portion of the development; if not, why not; if so, what are the relevant details?
