Minister Nkoana-Mashabane to host the President of the BRICS New Development Bank (NDB)

International Relations and Cooperation Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane will host the President of the BRICS New Development Bank, Mr KV Kamath, in Pretoria where he will deliver a public lecture at DIRCO on the theme: “From Concept to Reality: The BRICS New Development Bank.” Minister Nkoana-Mashabane is expected to deliver the opening remarks at the public lecture.

The NDB, which opened its headquarters in Shanghai, China, on 21 July 2015, together with its regional office in South Africa, the African Regional Centre, and the Contingent Reserve Arrangement, constitute the first formal BRICS financial institutions.

The purpose of the NDB is to mobilize resources for infrastructure and sustainable development projects in BRICS and other emerging market economies and developing countries to complement the existing efforts of multilateral and regional financial institutions for global growth and development.
