Former South African Ambassador Welile Nhlapo to deliver the Eritrea - South Africa Festival's (ERISA) 1st Public Lecture

The Embassy of the Republic of South Africa in Asmara, in the State of Eritrea, together with Eritrea's liberation governing movement, the People's Front for Democracy and Justice (PFDJ), will host the 1st Public Lecture of the Eritrea-South Africa Festival (ERISA) in Asmara on Friday, 6 February 2015.

This Lecture will be delivered by Mr. Welile Nhlapo who was South African President Jacob Zuma's former National Security Advisor, South Africa's former Ambassador to Washington DC and President Nelson Mandela's first duly accredited Ambassador to the State of Eritrea.

The lecture, to be attended by an Eritrean-South African panel of youth scholars, practitioners and activists, will address the subject, "South Africa 20 Years Later (1994-2014): The Challenge and Progress of Nation-Building''. The ERISA event will take place at the historic Municipal Hall (Mazagajabit), in Asmara.

The aim of the lecture and panel discussion is to seek common ground for progressive engagement on nation-building between Eritrea and South Africa.

The Lecture forms part of a series of events since the ERISA Launch October 2014 in Asmara,  paving the way for a range of further activities in Eritrea and South Africa to celebrate 10 Years since the establishment of the Embassy of South Africa in Asmara (2004-2014).
