President Zuma expresses condolences over the passing away of the First Lady of the Republic of India

On behalf of the Government and people of the Republic of South Africa, His Excellency President Jacob Zuma has conveyed a message of condolences to His Excellency President Pranab Mukherjee of the Republic of India following the passing away of his wife, First Lady Suvra Mukherjee, yesterday, Tuesday, 18 August 2015.

“The Government and the people of South Africa join the international community in offering condolences to President Mukherjee and his family on their bereavement.  First Lady Suvra Mukherjee was an outstanding person and a pillar of strength to her family and the people of India. She will be remembered, amongst others, for her great contribution to the preservation of India’s cultural and spiritual heritage. Her legacy will live on forever in the hearts of many people,” said President Zuma.
