Deputy Minister Landers arrives in Suriname upon conclusion of his visit to Trinidad and Tobago

The Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Hon. Mr Luwellyn Landers, has today, 02 July 2015, arrived in Suriname after concluding a successful visit to Trinidad and Tobago. 

While in Suriname, the Deputy Minister is expected to hold bilateral discussions with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, HE W Lackin.  The two countries will also sign a Memorandum of Understanding on Political Consultations. Suriname is the third country the Deputy Minister is visiting during his five nation tour to the Caribbean.  

During his visit to Trinidad and Tobago, the Deputy Minister held bilateral discussions with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Wilson Dookeren.  A full review of bilateral relations was discussed as well as other issues of mutual interest, including a possible exchange of trade delegations. 

Deputy Minister Landers also participated in a roundtable discussion hosted by the University of West Indies, under the theme: “Emerging Africa in the 21st Century”.  The event was attended by representatives of the academia, business and senior government officials.  Speakers at the event agreed that closer cooperation is required between the Caribbean and Africa, despite the geographical divide.
