President Zuma congratulates Dr. John Pombe Magufuli, President Elect of the United Republic of Tanzania

President Zuma congratulates Dr. John Pombe Magufuli, President Elect of the United Republic of Tanzania, on his victory in the General Election held on 25 October 2015.

Following the official announcement by the National Electoral Commission (NEC) of the results of the General Election in the United Republic of Tanzania, H.E. President Jacob Zuma has on behalf of the Government and people of the Republic of South Africa, congratulated Dr. John Pombe Magufuli, on his election victory as the President of the United Republic of Tanzania.

President Zuma has further congratulated the people of the United Republic of Tanzania for conducting a peaceful, transparent, credible, free and fair election, as declared by SADC, SADC PF, AU and Commonwealth observer teams.

In his message, President Zuma has expressed his commitment to work closely with H.E. Dr. Magufuli, President Elect, to strengthen the historical and fraternal relations which exist between South Africa and Tanzania, and collaborate on peace, security and development on the continent.
