President Zuma sends a message of condolences following the death of African migrants in the Mediterranean Sea.
On behalf of the Government and the people of the Republic of South Africa, His Excellency President Jacob Zuma has conveyed a message of condolences to families of the hundreds of migrants from the African Continent who perished after a boat capsized in the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of Libya.
President Zuma furthermore extends South Africa’s sympathies to the Governments and the peoples of the countries whose nationals died in this unfortunate tragedy, which is considered to be among one of the most deadly disasters seen during the migrant crisis in the southern Mediterranean.
President Zuma also said that the challenges of under-development that are forcing people to embark on the risky journeys across the Mediterranean Sea need to be urgently addressed.
