MR S MOKGALAPA (DA) TO ASK THE MINISTER OF INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS AND COOPERATION:

(1) What was the nature of the meeting between President, Mr Jacob G Zuma and President, Mr Hage Geingob of the Republic of Namibia on 6 May 2015;

(2) What issues were discussed?

REPLY:

(1) The meeting between President Jacob Zuma and President Hage Geingob, President of the Republic of Namibia, on Wednesday 6 May 2015, in Cape Town, was a courtesy call or working visit, essentially President Geingob coming to consult President Zuma on issues of mutual interest.

(2) The two Heads of State discussed bilateral cooperation and agreed to further strengthen bilateral relations, paying particular focus on trade and investment. The two leaders also exchanged views on regional and international developments.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Bilateral cooperation between the two countries covers a wide range of fields including, trade and investment, energy, water, transport, agriculture, science and technology, education, defence and security, etc. Significant progress in respect of the bilateral cooperation has been made over the years, as evidenced by the existence of over sixty agreements and memorandum of understanding.
