1) What agreements did the Government sign during the President’s state visit to the People’s Republic of China at the invitation of President Xi?
REPLY:
President Zuma undertook a State Visit to China from 3 – 5 December 2014. The agreements signed during the visit were:
1. Five-to-Ten Year Strategic Programme for Cooperation which serves to define the levels of trust and cooperation achieved in this bilateral relationship. The overall objective of the agreement is to enhance our Comprehensive Strategic Partnership by outlining specific areas of cooperation and collaboration with a view to meet South Africa’s Developmental Agenda;
2. Agreed Minutes on further improving Economic Cooperation in Trade and Investment between the Ministry of Trade and Industry of the Republic of South Africa and the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China;
3. Action Plan on Agriculture Cooperation between Republic of South Africa and the People’s Republic of China (2014-2016);
4. Protocol of Phytosanitory Requirements for the export of Maize from the Republic of South Africa to the People’s Republic of China;
5. Protocol of Phytosanitory Requirements for the export of Apple Fruit from the Republic of South Africa to the People’s Republic of China; and
6. Protocol of Phytosanitory Requirements for the export of Dates from the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of South Africa.
