Hon. S Mokgalapa to ask the Minister of International Relations:

(1) What is the total budget and listing of resources and infrastructure that has been sent to Lesotho in order to facilitate a free and fair national election in that country on 28 February 2015.

REPLY:

Based on the assessed contributions as determined by the SADC Secretariat, South Africa has contributed R20 million to the SADC peace process in the Kingdom of Lesotho. The decision to contribute to the SADC peace process in Lesotho was taken by the Double Troika Plus Two Summit that was held on 15 September 2014 in Pretoria.

South Africa has deployed 12 officials to form part of the SADC Election Observer Mission in accordance with the SADC Principles and Guidelines Governing Democratic elections.
