President Zuma sends condolences on the passing of former Chilean President

President Jacob Zuma has today, Thursday, 21 April 2016, on behalf of the Government and the people of South Africa, extended the country’s deepest condolences to Chile on the death on 19 April 2016 of the former President of Chile, His Excellency Patricio Aylwin Azócar.

Former President Aylwin was a Chilean Christian Democrat politician, lawyer and former senator. He was the first President of Chile to take office after the restoration of democracy in that country. He took Office in December 1989. Chile has decreed a three-day national mourning period to mark his passing.
