Deputy Minister Mfeketo in Jordan on an official visit

International Relations and Cooperation Deputy Minister Nomaindiya Mfeketo has arrived in Jordan on an official visit. The visit to Jordan is part of the Deputy Minister's mission to strengthen bilateral and economic relations with three Levant countries, including Syria and Lebanon.

During the visit, Deputy Minister Mfeketo will hold bilateral discussions with her counterpart, Mr Mohammad BANI-TAISEER, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, to strengthen bilateral political relations.

Deputy Minister Mfeketo will also address a Business Seminar on South Africa’s economy and trade, co-hosted by the Embassy and the Jordan Chamber of Industry. The business seminar will afford the two countries an opportunity to identify and discuss specific areas of cooperation, including exploring possible and potential areas of economic opportunities for trade and investments.

Jordan’s strategic position in the Middle East provides many opportunities for South African companies to engage in joint ventures with Jordanian partners. In this regard, Deputy Minister Mfeketo will hold engagements with the Secretary-General of Industry and Trade, Mr Yousef AL-SHAMALI.

Diplomatic relations between South Africa and Jordan are good and Jordan was the first Arab country to establish formal diplomatic relations with South Africa in 1993.
