Deputy Minister visits Malawi for a meeting of the SA-Malawi Joint Commission of Cooperation

The Republic of Malawi will host the 3rd Session of the South Africa-Malawi Joint Commission of Cooperation (JCC) on 6-7 April 2016.

The South African delegation, comprised of Senior Officials from the various Departments, will be led by Deputy Minister Luwellyn Landers.

Deputy Minister Landers will co-chair the JCC with Dr. George Chaponda, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Malawi. The JCC will be preceded by Senior Officials Meeting on 6 April 2016.

South Africa and Malawi enjoy cordial and fraternal bilateral relations which date back many years.  The JCC, which was formed in 2007, will further deepen the socio-economic and political relations that exist between the two countries.

South Africa and Malawi have strong economic ties as evidenced by several major South African companies operating in Malawi.  In 2015, South African exports to Malawi amounted to R4.70 billion, while imports from Malawi to South Africa totalled R706 million.
