(1) Whether the relationship between South Africa and the European Union (EU) will be affected by Britain’s exit from the EU (details furnished); if not, what is the position in this regard; if so, what are the relevant details;
REPLY:
(1) (aa) No, other than the exit of the United Kingdom from the European Union (EU), it is not expected that the relationship between South Africa and the EU will be affected by the United Kingdom’s exit from the EU
(bb) The relationship between South Africa and the European Union will continue to take place within the framework of South Africa’s strategic partnership with the European Union, which is underpinned by the South African-European Union Trade, Development and Cooperation Agreement (TDCA), as well as the Southern African Development Community’s Economic Partnership Agreement (SADC-EU EPA) that was signed on 10 June 2016 with the European Union.
