President Zuma congratulates Mr George Weah on his election victory in Liberia

President Jacob Zuma has congratulated the President-elect of the Republic of Liberia, Mr George Weah, who has won the Liberian Presidential runoff elections held on Tuesday, 26 December 2017.

President Zuma further congratulated the people of the Republic of Liberia for conducting peaceful Presidential runoff elections.

Furthermore, President Zuma commended the outgoing President, Her Excellency Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, who will leave office in 2018 after serving two six-year terms as Africa’s first elected female Head of State.

President Zuma stated that the peaceful and democratic manner under which these elections were conducted signify yet another positive step towards deepening democracy on the African continent.
