SA condemns the attack on AMISOM troops in Somalia

The South African Government joins the African Union and international community in strongly condemning the cowardly attack on the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) peacekeepers on 31 July 2017 in the Somali capital , Mogadishu resulting in the death of at least twelve (12) and injury of seven (7).

The Government of South Africa expresses its deep sympathy and condolences to the families of the fallen soldiers, the people and Government of Uganda. These brave soldiers have sadly paid the ultimate price in the service of humanity and efforts to promote peace and stability in Somalia.

South Africa reaffirms its support for the Government of Somalia and the African Union in their efforts to achieve lasting and sustainable peace, stability and development.
