President Zuma sends condolences message to Tanzania following deadly bus crash
His Excellency President Jacob Zuma has, on behalf of the Government and the people of South Africa, sent a message of condolences to his Tanzanian counterpart, His Excellency President John Magufuli, following a bus crash in the Arusha region of Tanzania that has claimed more than 30 lives, leaving scores of others injured.
President Zuma said: "The South African government and people share the grief of the families that have lost their loved ones. On this very sad and tragic occasion, South Africa stands in solidarity with the people of Tanzania and share their loss."
The accident, which took place on Sunday, 07 May 2017, is reported to have claimed the lives of school children, two teachers and the bus driver.
President Zuma will undertake a State Visit to Tanzania on 11-12 May 2017. President Zuma will also co-chair the launch of the South Africa-Tanzania Bi-National Commission with President Magufuli.
South Africa and Tanzania enjoy excellent bilateral relations which date back to the days of the liberation struggle.
