President Cyril Ramaphosa arrives in Botswana for Working Visit

President Cyril Ramaphosa has this morning, 03 March 2018, arrived in Gaborone, in the Republic of Botswana, to hold a consultative meeting with his Botswana counterpart, His Excellency President Lt. Gen. Seretse Khama Ian Khama, which is scheduled to take place today.
The courtesy meeting will serve to strengthen already existing strong political, economic and cultural ties between South Africa and Botswana.
The two countries enjoy excellent bilateral relations which date back to the days of the liberation struggle and were formalised by the two Governments in 1994.
In his capacity as the Chairperson of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), President Ramaphosa will also hold talks with the SADC Executive Secretary, Dr Stergomena Lawrence Tax, at the SADC headquarters in Gaborone.
President Ramaphosa is on the official three-nation trip in the SADC region. The President commenced his trip in Luanda, Angola, yesterday where he met with Angolan President João Lourenço, the current Chair of the SADC Organ on Politics, Defence and Security Cooperation.
President Ramaphosa then proceeded to Windhoek in the Republic of Namibia where he held a courtesy meeting with the Namibian President, His Excellency Dr Hage Geingob, the incoming SADC Chair after South Africa.
President Ramaphosa is accompanied by the Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Ms Lindiwe Sisulu and the Minister of Defence and Military Veterans, Ms Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula.
