President Ramaphosa to lead South African delegation to DRC for SA/DRC BNC

Pretoria - President Cyril Ramaphosa will tomorrow, Monday 15 October 2018, lead a South African delegation to the 11th Session of the Bi-National Commission (BNC) between the Republic of South Africa and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

The BNC commenced yesterday, Saturday 13 October 2018 with a meeting of senior officials and will be followed by Ministerial meetings today and tomorrow, 14 and 15 October 2018 that are a foundation for the Bi-National Commission on 16th October 2018.

The BNC between South Africa and the DRC was established in 2004 essentially to promote political, economic, and social co-operation between the two countries.

Since the establishment of the BNC in 2004, the two countries have strengthened their bilateral cooperation in various fields. As a result, 33 agreements have been signed over the years.

These legal instruments cover a wide range of areas including agriculture, defence, trade and investment, health, police, energy, public service and administration, cooperative governance, transport, diplomatic cooperation and immigration.
