Minister Sisulu sends condolence message to Ambassador Funde's family
International Relations and Cooperation Minister Lindiwe Sisulu has leant with sadness of the passing on of former Ambassador Sonwabo Eddie Funde.
Minister Sisulu said Ambassador Funde contributed immensely in the development of our diplomatic relations, particularly with Germany. "During his stint in Berlin, Ambassador Funde laid the foundation for what is now a solid political, economic, trade and people-to-people relationship between South Africa and Germany," said Minister Sisulu.
The Minister added that Ambassador Funde belonged to a generation of exiled activists who fought for freedom and returned home to contribute towards normalising South Africa's relations with Africa and the world.
Details of the memorial service and funeral will be communicated in consultation with the family.
