Deputy President David Mabuza departs South Africa for the Republic of Ethiopia

Deputy President David Mabuza in his capacity as Special Envoy to South Sudan today, has today 14 January 2019 departed from the Republic of South Africa ahead of his Working Visit to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.

The Working Visit to the Republic of Ethiopia by Deputy President Mabuza takes place in the context of strengthening the ongoing political efforts geared towards finding lasting peace and development for the people of South Sudan.

In December 2018, Deputy President Mabuza held various bilateral political consultations with Heads of State and government within the Member State of Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) on the implementation of the Revitalised Peace Agreement on South Sudan.

In this regard, Deputy President Mabuza held successful working visits to the Republics of Uganda, Kenya, Sudan where all leaders and other relevant stakeholders have expressed urgent need for a full implementation of the Peace Agreement.

Deputy President Mabuza will upon his arrival in Addis Ababa will meet with Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed Ali in his capacity as the Chairperson of IGAD to push for full implementation of the Revitalised Peace Agreement on South Sudan.

Deputy President Mabuza is supported by senior government officials.
