Deputy Minister Botes visits the Karoo and Southern Cape as part of Cabinet deployment to combat Gender-Based Violence and COVID-19

The Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Mr Alvin Botes (MP), will visit the Karoo (Prince Albert) and the Southern Cape from 02 – 05 August 2020 in response to the Cabinet Meeting of 27 May 2020, which allocated Ministers and Deputy Ministers to become District Champions for specific Districts and Metros.

The intention is to strengthen efforts to mitigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and to enhance the response to Gender Base Violence.

The role of District Champions is to assist the President and Deputy President to manage the implementation of the District Development Model in order to enhance the capacity of the State where it matters most.

During this visit, the Deputy Minister will meet with the leadership of the District as well as Local Municipalities. These efforts will be in line with the Risk Adjusted Strategy and in keeping with measures to limit the spread of Coronavirus.
