Deputy Minister Botes to receive United Kingdom (UK) Government’s donation to the Solidarity Fund

The Deputy Minister of the Department of International Relations and Cooperation, Mr Alvin Botes, will on Monday, 14 September 2020, participate in the signing ceremony marking the United Kingdom Government's donation of an amount of money to the Solidarity Fund.

The donation is aimed at extending the Solidarity Fund’s ongoing efforts to counter the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in South Africa. The donation will be channelled towards projects supporting and promoting women's empowerment.

In this regard, the British High Commission has identified programmes responding to Gender-Based Violence and women’s economic empowerment, Small and Medium Enterprises. As such, the funding will be deployed to support two existing Humanitarian Pillar projects, namely the Second Intervention in Gender-Based Violence support and Farming Input Vouchers.
