President Ramaphosa to address virtual World Economic Forum Davos Dialogues

President Cyril Ramaphosa will on Tuesday, 26 January 2021, deliver a virtual State of the World Address to the World Economic Forum (WEF) Davos Dialogues.

WEF will convene the Davos Dialogues from 26 to 29 January, within the context of the “Great Reset Dialogues”, a new series of Special Dialogues to discuss and determine a post COVID-19 socio-economic order.

The discussions will focus particularly on how the global community can reset priorities and reform systems as a response to the emerging global threats resulting from climate change and extreme weather events; trade wars and protectionism; large-scale cyber-attacks and the breakdown of critical IT infrastructure and networks; increasing inequalities and the emergence of a fractured multipolar and multi-conceptual world.

President Cyril Ramaphosa has been invited to share the outlook for South Africa’s economic recovery amidst the COVID-19 pandemic and discuss South Africa’s achievements as the outgoing Chairperson of the African Union (AU), particularly the successful regional management of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Since the Davos Dialogues will take place virtually, the WEF will broadcast the President’s special address to a worldwide audience.

This will be followed by an interactive discussion with chief executives from the WEF community of over 1,000 leading global companies who are expected to reflect on the President’s speech.

The session will be broadcast on major news channels and streamed on a range of government as well as WEF platforms including website, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube pages.

Members of the media are invited to follow the President’s address as follows:
