Closing Remarks by Deputy Minister Ebrahim: SA-Malawi Joint Commission for Cooperation (JCC), 7 September 2012
Honourable Minister Chiume;
Senior Officials;
We have come to the end of our working Session, a Session that has been very productive and forward looking. In this regard, I wish to thank you Honourable Minister for the friendly and comradely manner in which we have conducted our discussions.
I also wish to express my profound gratitude to our senior officials for producing a quality report that will form the basis of our bilateral cooperation.
Ladies and gentlemen,
In our deliberations and the report, we have covered all the important areas in our bilateral cooperation such as political, economic, social and security issues. We have forged a common ground in most areas and have agreed to prioritize the implementation of our decisions which we will have the occasion to review at our next Session in Malawi.
Ladies and gentlemen,
We shared with the Minister our intentions to work together in the development of infrastructure. The development of infrastructure is critical as it facilitates not only the flow of goods and services but also the movement of people. We are convinced that closer economic cooperation between our two sister Republics is fundamental and we have committed ourselves to achieve that.
Ladies and gentlemen,
I am therefore convinced that the outcomes of our meeting will take our bilateral relations to a new level. As we close this JCC meeting, we equally open a new chapter of close cooperation. We dare not fail!
In conclusion, I would once more thank you, Honourable Minister and all the senior officials for a job well done.
I further take this opportunity to wish our Malawian brothers and sisters a safe journey home.
I thank you
